LPGA Golf Tournament Ginn Clubs & Resorts
Open 2006
The inaugural Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open
will be played April 27-30, 2006, at Reunion Resort
& Club of Orlando on a composite layout of
two of the resort's golf courses, the Legacy designed
by Arnold Palmer and the Independence by Tom Watson.
The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open will be the
only full-field LPGA Tour event in the state of
Florida.
The Ginn Open will have the largest purse
on the North American LPGA Tour, and is the only
full-field LPGA Tour event in the state of Florida,
home of the LPGA. Featuring weekend coverage on
CBS Sports of the final two rounds, the Ginn Clubs
& Resorts Open is to be among the elite women's
pro tour golf events with a major television network
broadcast package.
The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open will
be the first LPGA golf event to use Cygnus Technology.
Cygnus will include volunteer registration, ticket
sales, management, sponsorship package sales,
distribution of individual tickets and credentials,
Pro Am and player registration, and the ability
to make online donations to the tournament's charity
the Florida Hospital Foundation.
The Ginn Clubs & Resorts Open promises
to match the best in women's golf with the best
in entertainment by featuring musical acts and
children activities throughout the week, including
a concert by country duo Brooks & Dunn.
Twelve-year-old Dakoda (Koda) Dowd has received
a sponsor's exemption, and will be playing her
first professional tournament against the 144-player
field, which is expected to include No.1-ranked
LPGA player Annika Sorenstam. Michelle Wie was
given the other exemption, but had to back out
due to certain exemption restrictions per season.
Tickets will be priced at $10 for each of the
practice rounds and pro-am days and $30 for general
admission for each of the four rounds. Parking
is complimentary and included with each ticket.
Weekly badges are available for $80 which allows
guests access to all of the tournament events.
