Orlando Golf Courses
Orlando's spectacular golf courses have made
it one of the top holiday and vacation destinations
in the country. Experienced golfers, novices,
and even hackers can choose from 18 golf academies
and 168 Orlando-area courses, many designed by
golf legends like Norman, Palmer Nicklaus and
Trent-Jones.
50 professional golfers including 30 PGA Tour
players make their home in Orlando, Florida. Tiger
Woods, Corey Pavin, Ernie Els,
Arnold Palmer, and Gary Player are just
a few of the greats, not to mention a dozen LPGA
Tour regulars. The golf
course property is abundant in Orlando, and
what a great place to live.
What is it that really attracts the Tour pros?
I would guess it is the opportunity to compete
in front of the hometown crowd, as local PGA tour
residents can do at the Bay Hill Invitational
and the National Car Rental Golf Classic at Walt
Disney World. There is nothing like winning at
home! In 2006 the LPGA will host the inaugural
Ginn Clubs &
Resorts Open in April.
Some of golf's grandest events have come to Orlando.
The World Cup of Golf was played at the Lake Nona
Golf Club in 1993 and at Grand Cypress in 1991.
Lake Nona has also hosted the Solheim Cup in 1989.
The PGA Merchandise Show attracts tens of thousands
of pros and golf equipment manufacturers each
year for the largest golf exhibition in the world.
